Deputy and Bloodhound Use Scent to Locate Burglary Suspect

Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy, Stan Metzler, and Bloodhound Nancy Drew used a suspects scent to successfully trail and locate a man suspected of residential burglary on Friday May 3, 2019. Deputy Metzler and human scent discriminate bloodhound Nancy Drew were both trained by Scent Evidence K9 by CEO, Paul Coley, and Training Manager, Trey Cash. Nancy Drew is one of three scent discriminate bloodhounds acquired by the WCSO to improve and enhance the Rockford IL area’s missing person response capabilities. ON FRIDAY MAY 3, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 6:29 AM WINNEBAGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO THE 100 BLOCK OF EAST GREENVIEW AVENUE, MACHESNEY PARK, ILLINOIS FOR A REPORT OF A RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY. DEPUTIES DEVELOPED A SUSPECT WHO WAS LATER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON AN UNRELATED OUTSTANDING ARREST WARRANT APPROXIMATELY A MILE AND A HALF FROM THE VICTIM’S HOME. A SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT BLOODHOUND FOLLOWED THE SUSPECT’S SCENT TRAIL FROM THE POINT OF ENTRY AT THE VICTIM’S HOME TO LOCATION WHERE THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY.

AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY THE DETECTIVE BUREAU, THE WINNEBAGO COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY OFFICE AUTHORIZED CHARGES OF RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY AGAINST THE FOLLOWING PERSON:

-JESSIAH L. LUNDE   (6/30/1992)   OF MACHESNEY PARK

THE CHARGES AGAINST JESSIAH L. LUNDE ARE MERELY ACCUSATIONS AND HE IS PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
